Assessed, reviewed and published report on all botanical gardens in Jamaica. Developed Master Plan for Hope Botanical Garden and Zoo in Kingston, Jamaica. Client: National Tourist Board of Jamaica • Made new plan for Monkey Jungle, Miami, Florida • Taught a course in landscape design and another in drawing for Chinese Academy of Sciences. Client: Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, China • Completed new Master Plan for National Botanical Garden of Georgia, Republic of Georgia, Tbilisi, Georgia. Private practice, Miami, Florida: Designed conceptual Master Plan for feasibility study of National Botanic Garden of Saudi Arabia. Client: BGCI & NCWCD • Chose site and designed conceptual Master Plan for National Botanical Gardens of St. Lucia. Client: St. Lucia Tourist Board (Organization of Amerian States) • Did drawing to illustrate design concept for garden to attract migratory birds. Client: Fairchild Tropical Garden • Planned flowering tree park & Young Park in Coral Gables, Florida. Client: City Beautification Committee • Developed conceptual plan for National Park headquarters property & interpretive schemes for existing parks and caves; proposed habitat conservation for island of Bonaire, Dutch West Indies. Client: STINAPA • Proposed Master Plan and environmental enhance- ments for 260-acre all-day beachside landing site at Labadee, Haiti. Client: Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines • Consulted on Master Plan planting scheme for 900-acre public seaside park near Miami. Client: Donor Family • Collaborated on team headed by architect Fabián Espinosa on Master Plan & landscaping for 20-acre urban, ecological Parque del Itchimbia in Ecuador. Client: City of Quito • Did Master Plan for 17-acre St.George’s Village Botanical Garden in St.Croix, U.S.V.I. Client: Private Board • Designed Master Plan for 60-acre riverine Jardín Botánico Amazónico and proposed tree planting scheme for city of Tena, Ecuador. Client: Missouri Botanical Garden, (Fundación Jatun Sacha & Liz Claiborne-Art Ortenberg Foundation) and Center for Plant Conservation • Developed conceptual Master Plan for interpretive 5-acre Jardín de Plantas Amazónicas at Jatun Sacha Biological Station, Misahualli, Ecuador. Client: Missouri Botanical Garden & partners. • Designed Master Plan for Jardín Botánico de Quito. Client: Fundación de los Andes • Advised on placement of endangered palm grove at the 120-acre site of the Montgomery Foundation Palmetum & Cycad Collection in Coral Gables, Florida & served as design mediator with City during negotiations on size & landscaping of community fire station there. Client: M.F. Board • Designed 3 master plan alternatives including school for 60-acre Cayman Islands National Botanic Park and served as design liaison between client & government. Park won regional award in 1993 as best Caribbean Eco-Tourism Project. Queen Elizabeth II opened the park in 1994 when it was renamed for her. Client: National Trust for the Cayman Islands, B.W.I.

1986-1989 Private Practice, Miami, Florida: Designed endemic habitat garden for 15-acre Nature Conservancy restored South Florida pineland forest. This project was judged state Overall Winner in Florida Native Plant Society’s landscape awards competition • Did Master Plan, model, and individual gardens as well as promotional material for 42-acre National Botanical/Zoological Parc de Tsimbazaza in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Client: Missouri Botanical Garden, (MacArthur Foundation Grant and Government of Madagascar).
1985 Moved to Miami, Florida. Attended University of Florida to study sub-tropical environments. Spent three months in Rio de Janeiro at offices of Roberto Burle Marx. • Volunteered 500 hours at Fairchild Tropical Garden in Miami doing grounds and nursery work.
1981-1984 Private Practice, Norwalk, Connecticut: Various projects including redesign of several homes and national award-winning historical home design and renovation. • Lectured on garden history at Rhode Island School of Design and taught landscape design in their summer masters degree program in arts education.• Elected Chairman, Wilson Point Architectural Review Board.• Was Coastal Area Management Representative to City of Norwalk for Wetlands Association. Spoke for local environmental groups at public meetings.
1980 Updated Master Plan and public interpretation program for National Landmark Roseland Cottage in Woodstock, Connecticut. Helped client set landscape restoration and public visitation policy. Client: Society for Preservation of New England Antiquities, Boston.
